De Deur traffic officers’ quarrel ends in murder-suicide

Police have opened a murder and inquest investigation following the deaths of two people over the weekend.

A domestic dispute took a deadly turn when two traffic officers died in De Deur, Gauteng, on Saturday.

According to information at Sedibeng Ster’s disposal, police received a complaint about a shooting incident in Debonair Park, De Deur.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a man and a woman dead on the street.

The man had four bullet wounds in his chest, while the woman had a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

Police insiders said the woman shot and killed her lover following a heated quarrel, and then turned the gun on herself.

Eight bullet casings were found next to the bodies.

The couple had attended a funeral that day and joined mourners at an after-tears gathering.

Sedibeng Cluster police spokesperson Captain Teboho Lephoto confirmed the incident.

“We can confirm that the De Deur police are investigating a murder and inquest after the two traffic officers were found dead,” he said.
