Robbery suspect killed in police shoot-out in KZN

A suspected robber was shot dead and three others are on the run following a gun battle with police.

A robbery suspect was fatally wounded in a shoot-out with police in eSikhaleni, KZN, yesterday.

According to police reports, four suspects robbed their victim in the Ndindima area and fled the scene.

KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says SAPS members traced the suspects, cornering four of them in the Ncombo area.

“At the sight of police blue lights, the suspects opened fire towards the police, triggering a response from the men of law,” says Netshiunda.

“One suspect was fatally wounded in the resultant shoot-out, while the other three fled into the bushes.

“A search for them is ongoing. The deceased suspect was found in possession of a .38 special revolver firearm with five rounds of ammunition,” he adds.

No police officers were wounded during the shoot-out.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects who evaded arrest is urged to contact the nearest police station or call the Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
