KZN teacher killed in front of primary school learners

Police in Ntuzuma are investigating a case of murder after two unknown suspects fired several shots at a teacher.

A 46-year-old teacher was this morning shot and killed in full view of learners at the Phikiswayo Primary School in Ntuzuma, near KwaMashu.

The KZN Department of Education have deployed Special Needs Education Services to provide support to the traumatised children and teachers.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of a dedicated educator. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and school community during this devastating time,” says Education MEC Sipho Hlomuka.

Police in Ntuzuma confirm they are investigating a case of murder following an incident in which the 46-year-old woman was shot and killed inside the school premises on Richmond Farm.

“Information at police’s disposal at this stage indicates that two unknown suspects fired several shots at the victim before fleeing from the scene. The woman was declared dead at the scene,” explains SAPS spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda.

The department condemn this senseless act of violence and called upon law enforcement to expedite their investigation to ensure justice is served.

They urge anyone with information to assist the police.
