Bodies of 2 women discovered in Mpumalanga

The perpetrators behind the crimes are unknown, but investigations by the Mpumalanga police are underway.

The discovery of two bodies within two day has raised concern in Mpumalanga.

The first discovery was made at about 18:00 on Wednesday, when the SAPS retrieved the burnt body of an unidentified teenage girl in a mountainous area between Pienaar and KaNyamazane outside Mbombela.

According to provincial police spokesperson Captain Magonseni Nkosi, the body was spotted by a passer-by.

“Police and medical practitioners were summoned to the scene. She was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel,” he adds.

Nkosi says another body was discovered yesterday – this time in KaMajika New Cemetery near Hazyview.

“We found the body of a 46-year-old woman who had been kidnapped in Mphatseni near Hazyview at about 00:15 on Sunday. The body was found with multiple injuries and a rope around the neck.

“According to information, the woman was kidnapped by three armed suspects in front of her three children at home. It was established that the body was that of the woman who was kidnapped after she was positively identified by family members,” Nkosi explains.

Nkosi adds the police have since assembled a team of investigators to work on the cases.
