Suspect appears in Belfast court after allegedly killing farm guard

Family members found a farm guard lying motionless in a pool of blood.

Zwelithini Mtsweni (23) handed himself over to the Belfast police after a farm guard (44) was murdered inside his room at his workplace.

Mtsweni handed himself over to the police on Thursday and appeared before the Belfast Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

According to information received by the Middelburg Observer, the victim was found by his family members, lying motionless in a pool of blood, on Tuesday. He was declared dead at the scene.

Two days later, the suspect handed himself over to the police.

He appeared in court on Friday and the case was postponed to July 12. He was remanded in custody.

SAPS Mpumalanga acting provincial commissioner Mpumalanga Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi welcomes the arrest and says police will work hard to ensure justice for the victim’s family.
