Woman’s body found in sewage stream next to Gauteng Golden Highway
Members of the public called the police after seeing human feet in a sewage stream.
An inquest investigation is underway after a woman’s body was found in a sewage stream next to Zone 19 along the Golden Highway in Sebokeng, Gauteng, yesterday.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane says community members were on the Golden Highway when they saw human feet in the sewage stream. They immediately called the police.
“Upon arrival, they were able to pull out the body of a woman from the stream. She was later identified by her cousin as Lerato Nyakane (30), residing in Azania, Sebokeng,” Mokhachane says.
Her cause of death is not yet known, and an investigation has been launched.
The police plead with community members to not wait 24 hours to report a missing person. There is no time frame to report a person missing, says SAPS.
