Hijacked truck involved in Ekurhuleni R21 crash
The Voortrekker Road off-ramp on the R21 remains closed due to a crime scene investigation.
Crime scene investigations are underway following this morning’s truck crash on the R21 in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni.
Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson Thabiso Makgato confirmed that the truck, transporting a load of beverages, was hijacked on the R21 north at the Voortrekker Road off-ramp.
Shortly afterwards the truck crashed and jackknifed, blocking the road.
The details surrounding the crash are not yet known.
Motorists are advised to use the Atlas Road off-ramp to access the Kempton Park CBD.
When on-scene criminal investigations are completed, clean-up operations will commence.
No timeframe has been given for the reopening of the off-ramp.
