Manhunt launched after discovery of Limpopo man’s mutilated body

The discovery of a man’s mutilated body along the R37 near a fuel station in Burgersfort, Limpopo, has led to provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe ordering an urgent manhunt for those involved.

According to a statement by local police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the discovery was made at around 13:30 on Saturday.

“Police were alerted to the incident and upon arrival with the emergency medical services personnel, they found a male victim, lying naked on the ground with multiple injuries [to] the face and lower body. Some of his body parts were missing,” he says.

Ledwaba adds the man was last seen by his nephew who he stays with, at around 14:00 the day before the discovery. The man reportedly told his nephew that he was going to visit his girlfriend.

“He was certified dead on the scene and his identity is withheld pending further police investigations. The motive behind the incident is currently unknown,” he says.

Hadebe wants the investigators to work around the clock to ensure justice is served.

“I have ordered a team of investigators to get to the bottom of this brutal and senseless killing. We will work tirelessly to ensure that perpetrators behind this incident are tracked down and apprehended. We appeal to the community members to come forward with any information that can assist the police to arrest the suspects involved,” concludes Hadebe.
