Injured school rugby player airlifted to KZN hospital

A learner who sustained serious injuries in a rugby match required urgent advanced life support intervention.

A school rugby player was airlifted to hospital after sustaining a critical injury during a match at a Howick, KZN, school this morning.

Midlands EMS Howick crews were on medical standby at a rugby game when the player was injured and required urgent advanced life support intervention due to the nature of his injuries.

According to Midlands EMS, a decision was made to call the Netcare 911 aeromedical helicopter to airlift the teenage player to a Level 1 trauma hospital for further care.

“We wish the player a speedy recovery,” said Midlands EMS.
