Pretoria doctor arrested after sexual assault of 17-year-old patient

The teen girl was seeking medical attention when she was sexually assaulted, allegedly by the doctor.

A medical doctor in the north of Pretoria was arrested on Thursday after a 17-year-old patient who was seeking medical attention was sexually assaulted, allegedly by him.

It is alleged the victim had visited the doctor’s surgery on Wednesday when the sexual assault took place, says police spokesperson Warrant-Officer Johan van Dyk.

Van Dyk adds that after the visit, the girl went home, called her mother, and informed her that she had been sexually assaulted by the doctor during the consultation.

Van Dyk says the matter was immediately reported to the police at the Pretoria North Police Station.

“The case was opened and referred to the Family Violence and Child Protection Unit for further investigation,” he adds.

Police followed up on the information and arrested the doctor.
