Very cold weather expected in parts of SA next week

A cold front is expected to hit the Western Cape on Tuesday.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned that another cold front is expected to reach South Africa this week, shortly after icy cold weather was experienced last week.

According to a regional forecast by the SAWS, an intense cold front is expected to hit the western parts of the Western Cape on Tuesday.

It will move into the Eastern Cape on Wednesday, extending into the central interior and reaching KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday.

“The public is advised that very cold conditions will set in over the interior of the Cape provinces on Wednesday with possible snowfalls on the high grounds, spreading towards KwaZulu-Natal and the Drakensberg by Thursday.”

The Citizen reported that snowfall is further expected over the Mpumalanga highveld and some areas of the escarpment with very cold conditions expected over the Free State, Gauteng and the eastern parts of the North West province on Friday.
