South African roads can be dangerous, making it essential to be prepared for emergencies.
While many drivers carry the standard essentials, women often have additional items they believe are crucial for safe and comfortable driving.
Research suggests women are more inclined to responsible driving behaviour than men, given the poor road conditions and high accident rates in South Africa.
Dewald Ranft, the chairperson of the Motor Industry Workshop Association (Miwa), emphasises the importance of being a responsible driver, which includes being prepared for any eventuality. Women are leading the way in this regard, as evidenced by the five essential items they consistently carry in their cars.
We asked three female automotive professionals who are also Miwa members about their must-have items:

Ranft commends these women for their preparedness. He emphasises the importance of being able to get help quickly, whether through a cellphone or an emergency app. Additionally, he highlights the significance of regular vehicle maintenance to reduce risks and ensure a safe journey.
