From the outside, the most notable cosmetic enhancement made to the RS3 comes in the shape of revised front grille, flanked by headlamp clusters incorporating new daytime-running lights. The front air intakes have also been redesigned. ‘Round back, the large RS-specific incorporates a red reflector and, on opposite sides, oval tailpipes. The RS3 sits on 19-inch alloy wheels.

A ‘double-flattened’ (meaning the top and bottom is flattened) multifunction steering wheel, which is trimmed in leather. RS Sports seats — upholstered in ‘fine’ Nappa leather, replete with Dinamica microfibre accents — are also present. Angled towards the driver’s perspective, the digital instrument cluster, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit set-up, measures 12.3 inches. A 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which, in addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring, now features an app store with a raft of applications.

Although the engine remains unchanged, the brand with the four rings has received several upgrades to enhance its driving dynamics, especially when cornering. According to the company, the RS3 now turns more readily, while oversteer is easier to initiate.

As a reminder, the RS3 employs Audi’s award-winning 2.5l, five-cylinder turbopetrol engine. The TFSI five-pot produces 294kW and 500N.m of torque, available from 5 600 to 7 000r/min and 2 250 to 5 600 /min, respectively. Power is sent to all four corners via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The firm claims a 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.8 seconds for both the Sportback and sedan variants. The top speed is electronically governed to 250km/h. However, ticking the correct option box lifts the maximum to 290km/h.
