Growing up, Tadeusz was immersed in Porsche culture. This passion, combined with a love for the sea, sparked the idea of transforming a Porsche into a beach buggy. With the Hel Riders festival gaining momentum, the dream of the 928 Surfari started to take shape.
The goal was ambitious: Create a Porsche that could handle off-road terrain and serve as the perfect beach cruiser. The Porsche 928, with its powerful V8 engine, was an ideal starting point. But turning it into a beach buggy required significant modifications to the gearbox, differential, and suspension.
Enter Tomasz Staniszewski, an engineer and rally driver with experience from the Classic Dakar Rally. He took on the challenge of adapting the 928 to its new role, ensuring it could tackle both sand and surf with ease. The visual transformation was handled by the Lange brothers, local designers who had been part of the Chałupy 6 scene for years. Their styling gave the 928 Surfari a distinctive and rugged look, perfectly suited for its new purpose.

After debuting at the Hel Riders festival, the 928 Surfari embarked on a road trip to Sylt, Germany, for the Petro-Surf air-cooled Porsche festival, and then to Rømø, Denmark. These locations provided the perfect backdrop to test the Surfari’s capabilities and showcase its connection to the beach environment.
The 928 Surfari isn’t just a car; it’s a symbol of innovation and passion. For Tadeusz and his team, it represents the merging of their love for Porsches with their seaside lifestyle. Each new journey adds to its story, making the 928 Surfari a true testament to creativity and determination. As they look ahead, the Hel Riders team is always ready for the next adventure.
