As we ease into 2024, the countdown to the 14th edition of the Simola Hillclimb intensifies. This premier motoring and motorsport lifestyle event is renowned for featuring some of South Africa’s fastest, most valuable cars and an impressive line-up of local and international drivers. Registration for those hoping to compete is set to close on January 31. The event is set to unfold on the challenging 1.9km Simola Hill course, nestled in the scenic town of Knysna, from May 2 to 5.

Sporting director Geoff Goddard emphasises that the Simola Hillclimb is an invitational event, meticulously reviewing applications to ensure a diverse and exciting line-up across various classes. The response has been outstanding, with approximately 140 applications received to date, nearing oversubscription for Classic Car Friday and King of the Hill.

Goddard highlights the importance of a robust application pool for crafting an engaging and fresh experience for spectators and global livestream viewers. Classic Car Friday allows a maximum of 65 competitors, while King of the Hill is restricted to 84 entries. Successful applicants will receive formal invitations by February 9.

A notable addition for this year is the introduction of class B10 for modified street cars, providing owners of modified street-legal cars an opportunity to compete for class honours.

This main event is complemented by various activities and attractions, including car shows, parade laps through town, demonstration runs, vendor displays in Gasoline Alley, and a diverse range of local food and beverages.
