Nissan teases off-road and Autech Sport X-Trail ahead of Tokyo Auto Salon

Nissan is set to display a pair of X-Trail models early next year, at one of the biggest motor shows in the world.

As part of Nissan’s display ahead of the Tokyo Auto Salon in January, the automaker has teased the X-Trail as an off-road-ready Crawler Concept. If that isn’t your cup of tea, there will also be the sleek X-Trail Autech Sport.

With the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 taking place at Makuhari Messe from January 12 to 14, Nissan has revealed some of what its display will entail. From off-road to on-road to Nismo branded creations, Nissan will be displaying a pair of X-Trail models, one of which looks like a go-anywhere SUV.

With a solitary teaser image of its silhouette, the X-Trail Crawler Concept hints at an elevated suspension and a robust roof rack featuring an integrated LED light bar. The off-road-focused SUV is expected to ride on all-terrain tires and showcase a sturdier body kit with additional cladding. According to Nissan, the cargo compartment houses ‘tools that have always been sought after in the X-Trail’.

Based on the authentic SUV model X-Trail, the X-trail Crawler Concept has a boosted off-road flavor and gear toughness. The exterior represents a world of rock-crawling, running through steep and rough terrain, and the luggage area contains the tools that have always been looked for in the X-Trail, says Nissan.

If this isn’t quite exciting enough for the SUV, Nissan has also mentioned that the X-Trail AUtech Sports Spec Concept will be shown at the Tokyo Auto Salon. This will be done alongside the Serena, which receives the same treatment. Speaking of which, the model is said to receive sporty and luxurious styling, enhancing it from the standard version.
