JANUWORRY!, January 28
End off the longest month with this specially created event featuring Bad Peter, Pedro Barbosa, Lungelo Moyo and Chris Kearney at Railways Café in Irene. Entrance to the event is free with the day kicking off with a Vinyl market from 10:00. The live entertainment will start at 14:00, with the last set beginning at 17:00. Passion for Speed, January 27 and 28
One for the motorheads: Zwartkops International World of Motoring will be hosting the 22nd Passion for Speed event. This event embraces an almost complete package of Circuit Motor Racing from the BMW Race Series, the Historic Single Seaters, and Pursuit Series, to the mighty big Legend V8s and Sports and GT Racing Cars, Exotic GT3 SuperCars and, of course, the Historic Racing Cars.
There is something for everyone, with food and drink stalls, arts and crafts, live music, a beer garden, kids’ entertainment, pedal carts, quad rides, passenger rides, exhibition displays and more.
Beginnings with Loren & Giorgia Ehlers, January 29
This concert presents something old, something new and something familiar.
The concert will begin with the older, but extraordinary, duet for violin (Loren Ehlers) and cello (Giorgia Ehlers) by Reinhold Gliére: Huit Morceaux. For the new, the premiere of a new duet by Loren Ehlers – the Giorgia Rose Suit – a dance suite in five movements written for his sister and fellow musician Giorgia Rose Ehlers. Finally, the audience shall be taken back to the familiar, but presented differently with Loren Ehlers on the accordion. He will perform works by Zolotaryov, Barton, Melocchi, Youmans’ foot-tapping oh-so-familiar “Tea for Two”, and Rossini’s “Barber of Saville” showing the remarkable versatility of the accordion.
This is the siblings’ first public concert together and the first time one of Loren’s compositions is being performed publicly.

Droomsindroom met Vrede, January 28
Kirsten and Kyle Schlebusch are like those naughty boys in the front of the class that the teacher always has to keep an eye on, but you can’t help but love them. Go and see what Droomsindroom has to offer at Sowaar Bar at 19:00. The duo wants to show you how “kliphard” they will be taking 2023.
Dowe Digters ft. Tidal Waves, January 29
End your weekend with a full soul soothing afternoon with the legendary Tidal Waves at Vula Food Shack in New Mukleneuk. Dowe Digters is an open mic-inspired event calling on poets, artists, singers and instrumentalists to share their talents, after which the Tidal Waves will treat the audience to their iconic sounds.
The event starts at noon with the open mic starting at 13:30 and the Tidal Waves performance from 15:00. Enjoy this one-of-a-kind unplugged experience with good food and refreshing drinks.
Remember to bring your poems, songs, or instruments if you are keen to perform for a crowd.
Jannie du Toit – Bonjour Monsieur Brel, January 29
Jacques Brel’s colourful texts will be sung in four languages by Jannie du Toit and accompanied by a musical ensemble of piano, cello and guitar.
Jannie du Toit has been a highly regarded Brel performer for decades. He sang his first renditions of Brel in 1988 in the production From Berlin to Bapsfontein with Laurika Rauch. Since then, Brel has consistently played a role in shows such as De Kleine Man and Jannie en die Tannie with Christa Steyn. Naòmi Morgan’s Afrikaans translations, which compare extremely favourably with translations in other languages, represent a surprising new look at Brel’s texts. Well-known hits are of course on the menu, but also some of his more unknown, equally brilliant work.
The event will be at the Atterbury Theatre at 15:00.
