Ga-Rankuwa hip-hop artist drops new album

The Ga-Rankuwa-based artist is best known for his first offering, Identity, which he released in 2012.

Artist, producer, vocalist, songwriter and rapper Buoypelo has dropped his second official album, Pour Up.

Both his albums contain a mixture of hip-hop and pop.

Buoypelo said he had to shift his focus a bit after his first album so he could concentrate on his studies.

He studied IT Multimedia at TUT.

“Education comes first,” he said.

With his studies out of the way, Buoypelo has found time to work on the new album, which he described as vibrant and entertaining.

Buoypelo first developed an interest in songwriting in 2011.

He attributed his creativity to vernacular wordplay.

He said the Tracy Chapman-like vocals added a new-age flavour to his overall upbeat tone.

He expanded his creativity to include different vocal elements and music genres in one.

“Ingenuity was key to my overall style,” he said.

He said Pour Up, which is an Extended Play (EP) album, was long awaited.

Buoypelo said the tracks on the album included Famous, Say Yes, Jonnie Walker and Another Round.
