Eersterust residents support fight against drugs

The 2de Kans movie, which encourages drug addicts to make use of a second chance to change their lifestyle, was launched at the Civic Centre in Eersterust on Friday.

More than 600 Eersterust residents gathered at the Civic Centre for the 2de Kanse movie launch on Friday.

The movie, produced by Fatima Abdool assisted by Abel Stolz, warns people about the danger of using drugs and encourages drug addicts to change their lifestyle.

It is called 2de Kanse which means a second chance.

According to Abdool everyone deserves a second chance in life.

“I want the drug addicts to give themselves a second chance, and their families and the community to give them a second chance. Drug addicts have to take a second chance and make the best of it,” Abdool said.

The production is about a single mother and her son who is a drug addict. The mother tries to do the right thing by bringing her son up under strict conditions, but her efforts are in vain. She does not win. The son ends up following the crowd and accidentally shoots his mom while trying to shoot a drug dealer.
