Celebrate the colourful and diverse culture of South Africa this Heritage Day weekend at The Shebeen restaurant in Sun City. Previously, shebeens were a meeting place in the townships for activists, liberals, intellectuals and artists who would secretly vibe together late into the night. Come experience this authentic township hospitality on Saturday 22 and Monday 24 September 2018 at the award-winning Sun City Resort.
The festivities kick-off from 12:00 on the Saturday and guests are encouraged to dress in their traditional attire or other proudly South African outfits. Guests will be welcomed by traditional African dancers on arrival before being immersed in tantalising aromas, sights and sounds of South Africa inside the restaurant.
There will be a variety of food options, including a scrumptious braai with an array of popular side dishes. Bands and DJs on the bill include Divinity Duo, Lungi Duo, Lady Lace Trio, DJ Choco, the Morning After Band, and Clinton Viljoen who will take turns to entertain the crowds until 21:00 on Saturday and until 18:00 on Monday.
Tickets are R250 for Sun MVG cardholders and R300 for non-members. Tickets will be available to purchase at The Shebeen. Included in the ticket price is access to the Heritage celebrations, a food and beverage voucher booklet worth R200 and access to the vibrant Afriganza show at Segaetsho Cultural Village, next to The Shebeen.
Residents staying at Sun City’s hotels over the Heritage Day weekend and kids under 12 can enter for free. However, they will need to purchase the food and beverage voucher booklet for R200.
As always, there are loads of other activities to enjoy at the resort. Enjoy the thrilling water slides, a variety of water sports including jet skiing; parasailing and water skiing available at Waterworld at the Cabanas hotel or try out Track & Trail; a multi-wheel, asphalt pump track for skateboards, BMX, mountain bikes, dirt jump bikes and in line skates.
In addition, there is a choice of sparkling pools; jogging trails; quad biking; floodlit tennis courts; guided tours of the resort on zippy Segways and one of the world’s longest Zip Slides – to mention just a few of the fun things to do at Sun City.
