Color Run promotes local talent

The Color Run is around the corner, Rekord gives you Maitele Wawe’s perspective on it.

The Color Run Pretoria is finally here, with only three days left until the excitement starts.

Capitec Bank, sponsor of The Color Run 2016, has partnered with one of the locals who has taken a step to live better by pursuing his dreams.

Maitele Wawe, a true Pretoria talent and mastermind of the Fashion Rebels, a street style fashion crew, and The Social Market, a meeting place for lovers of everything artistic uninhibited in Pretoria, talks about his story of creativity, individuality, conviction, love of colour and his freedom of expression.

“Happiness and individuality are qualities I hold highly in my life and always seek out in the people I meet and interact with. The element of the different colours also brings about a certain feeling of freedom and the event itself gives us youngsters an opportunity to get down and dirty for a good cause,” explained Wawe.

When asked if he thought Pretoria needed more colour and inspiration, he said creativity was slowly spreading in the streets of Pretoria, but sadly spread only by a few minds.

“I’m certain that as Fashion Rebels, who created The Social Market, we infuse the city with that inspiration every day by giving people a place they can allow the colours in them to shine through.”

Wawe urged the people of Pretoria to never allow doubt and insecurity cloud their passions and dreams.

“Colour expresses emotions… colour screams a loud message [about you] to anyone you encounter,” said Wawe.

Wawe and his fashion rebels will be at the Color Run this year, look out for them in their creative attire.
