1. A decades party
Guests attend the bash dressed to represent a particular decade. It can be interesting should guests dress up for the decade in which they were born, on condition your guests represent a sufficient variety of birth dates.
Alternatively you could assign different decades to different people.
2. Superhero party
Even if you are an adult, a superhero party never seems to disappoint. It is fun for the whole family.
There are so many dress-up party options available and numerous decorating options for parties like this.
3. Best movie character party
Everybody has a favourite movie character. Request your friends and family to dress up like their beloved character and include a guessing game as part of the fun. Chances are you will probably see a lot of different costumes.
4. Hawaiian pool party
This party has been around for years, and probably will be for many more through the summer months.
The fun thing about a Hawaiian pool party is the variety of summery alcoholic beverages, cool snacks and, of course, the swimming pool.
5. First letter of your name party
You can either ask your guests to attend your party dressed up as the first letter of your name, for example “P” for “Penelope”, whereas people can then dress up like a potato, a president or a panda. Or you can request your guests to wear something that starts with the first letter of their own name.
6. Round the world party
This type of party is always a fun one, especially to those who enjoy travelling. Request your guests to wear something that resembles their favourite holiday destination – alternatively the nicest or worst place they have visited.
Your guests can also wear a costume that resembles the traditional attire form their country of choice.
7. Halloween party
If you haven not yet attended a Halloween party you may as well host one at some point.
It is quite basic. Merely ask your guests to dress as scarily as possible, or as their favourite horror movie character.
8. Dead celebrities party
This is a much-loved party theme, with many of us having deceased idols like Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Elvis Presley. Request your guests to dress as their favourite deceased actor, actress or musician.
9. Ugly sweaters party
That is right, we all have that one, very old and ugly sweater given to us by a grandmother or distant aunt that is just too hideous to wear in public. Now you have a great purpose for it.
This is a great opportunity to have a good laugh at what some people consider ugly.
10. A funky hat party
This type of party has been around for many years, with some people sprucing it up with an Alice in wonderland theme.
A funky hat party is relatively affordable because your only accessory would be a funny or funky hat.
