20 years since South Africa’s World Cup victory

Today exactly 20 years ago, South Africa became one as the Springboks won the 1995 Rugby World Cup at Ellis Park.

The Springboks triumphing over the All Blacks in the 1995 Rugby World Cup final, has gone down in history as one of the country’s most memorable moments, not only for rugby, but for South Africa as a united democratic nation.

The score was 15-12 for South Africa against the All Blacks in the 1995 Rugby World Cup final at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg, exactly 20 years ago today.

Another prominent memory is the presence of former president, Nelson Mandela at the game.

A reunion of the winning Springbok team will be shown on SuperSport at 15:00 on Wednesday, 24 June 2015, highlighting the memorable road South Africa endured before, during and after the 1995 victory.
