Park Acoustics jam-packed

Pretorians enjoy a lazy Sunday at Park Acoustics.

Pretoria’s favourite monthly music festival, Park Acoustics, yet again delivered spectacular music, comedy and a magnificent view on Sunday.

Having already sold out all of the tickets by early morning, music lovers packed tightly into the historic Fort Schanskop, enjoying some of South Africa’s foremost music talents. Psychedelic folk newcomers Bye Beneco, playing songs from their recently-released album ‘Space Elephant’, delivered a performance worthy of the praise heaped on them by critics.

Other acts included crowd favourites Matthew Mole and Nakhane Touré, electro-kwaito singer Moonchild, and dark pop star Tailor, whose new album ‘Light’ was recently nominated for a SAMA (South African Music Award).

Festival goers could enjoy some delicious home-made pizza cones, burgers, or pulled-pork sandwiches, all while enjoying the scenic Pretoria skyline and listening to the finest music.

Between each of the bigger acts, the crowd could explore the grounds of Fort Schanskop, visit some of the vendors selling everything from vinyl LPs, vintage clothes, and jewellery, or party at the electro stage.

While many clambered into the amphitheater, looking for a space under the old thorn tree close to the stage, others had to settle for space on the lawn embankments, enjoying the music from afar, sitting under a rainbow of umbrellas.

Park Acoustics is hosted on the last Sunday of every month at the Voortrekker Monument and is a wonderful way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.
