DJ arrested after doing 172km

Metro FM DJ faces charges after the Tshwane metro police arrested him for doing 172km in a 120km zone.

A Metro FM DJ was arrested late last night after he was speeding on the N1 North, close to the Lynnwood off-ramp.

According to Senior Superintend Isaac Mahamba, spokesperson for the Tshwane metro police, the DJ was doing 172km in a 120km zone.

Mahamba said the driver had been released on bail but were unable to disclose his identity.

Happy Ngibi, public relations officer of Metro FM, said the station is aware of the incident. “We do not condone speeding and we take the matter very seriously. However, he did make a mistake and feels very sorry for his actions,” she said.

Ngibi said the driver was en route to Polokwane to work at Metro FM’s 28 birthday bash celebration.
