What do you want to be when you grow up? You might expect answers like a policeman, fireman, nurse and more, but definitely not a mermaid.
Emily Keat from the United Kingdom has made a career out of being a professional mermaid. She built her own mermaid’s tail that spans almost 2m and trained four hours daily to turn herself into a half woman, half fish entertainer.
“When I was younger, I wanted to be a fairy. But making a fairy costume didn’t seem practical. I could make some wings that looked really lifelike, but I would never be able to fly. With a mermaid’s tail I would actually be able to swim like a mermaid,” Emily said.
