House music beats in Dj Nova SA’s blood

His big dreams and patience are what keep Kabelo Phorohlo (DJ Nova SA) hoping that one day he will be celebrated internationally.

The 24-year-old from Windmill Park is already making waves in the music industry with his producing and DJ skills.

DJ Nova SA started his music career at Hoërskool Voortrekker in 2008 and, surprisingly, holds a diploma in travel and tourism.

Signed under the Shamiso Music and Entertainment record label, he came into the spotlight after producing a smash hit remix of Beyoncé’s song (featuring Jay-Z) Drunk in Love, which has played on Metro FM.

His genre of music remains house, but he has also produced other genres.

DJ Nova SA has performed in the Eastern Cape, North West and around Gauteng, and his music has been well received by young people all over South Africa.

Recently he has done numerous remixes for big songs, such as Fistax Maxwell’s song (featuring Big Nuz) Monoea, and Thebe’s No Filter as well Kelly Khumalo’s latest single, Asene.

“My journey has been an exciting one as I have met and worked with giants in the music industry.

“It has been a great learning process and God has blessed my career so far,” said Phorohlo.

“Hard work is the key to success if you want to build a brand for yourself.”

In 2014 he released his official single, titled Izinyembezi, featuring Meehlaji, which was downloaded more than 100 000 times.

He was later featured on M.Que’s single, titled Again.

His current track, Urban Song, which is currently being played on various radio stations, such as YFM and 5FM, is topping the charts.

According to DJ Nova SA, he wants to introduce his music to people all over the world.

“I would also love to own my own record label and give upcoming artists the chance to make a name for themselves.

“To upcoming artists, I have this advice: stay humble, work hard, pray hard and show respect to people who support your career,” DJ Nova SA said.

There is certainly a lot more coming from this young DJ in 2016.
