Tour the continent right at your doorstep

The inaugural Annual African Lifestyle and Heritage Festival will be held at Dries Niemandt Park, Kempton Park, this weekend, September 18 to 20.

The festival is a showcase of the beauty, diversity and ethnicity of each of the 54 countries on the African continent.

The event aims to educate South Africans and other Africans on African cuisine, music, fashion, literature and arts, ultimately to cultivate a sense unity within the continent.

The three-day spectacular will be hosted under the theme “Africa – the New Now: We will journey for our glorious past to our vibrant present”.

Exhibitors will showcase the latest trends from all the African countries

All products on show and on sale will be designed and produced on this continent.

It will be a celebration of the Africa of the past meeting the new, bold and youthful Africa.

Visitors will be able to “tour” the continent in the park, tasting food from different parts of the continent, enjoying the music, buying art and trying some of the latest fashion pieces — all in one day.

An estimated 15 000 visitors are expected to visit the festival (open from noon to 9pm) over the three days.

The African Lifestyle and Heritage Festival is being held in partnership with Ekurhuleni, SAFM, EKFM, Department of International Relations and Cooperation and the National Youth Development Agency.
