How to make clay ornaments

Step 1: Mix dry ingredients in a pan and stir through warm water.

Step 2: Place on the stove and mix over medium heat, stirring as it starts to bubble.

Step 3: Continue to stir till it thickens and starts to resemble a soft play-dough consistency, take it off the heat, and leave it to cool for a few minutes.

Step 4: Turn it out onto the counter and knead it for a couple of minutes to make it pliable.

Step 5: It should look and feel like bright white playdough!

Step 6: Let your child use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and a straw to cut out holes to string twine through.

Step 7: Your child can decorate with whatever they like (we used a large patterned pendant to give a lacy effect on the hearts).

Step 8: The stars were decorated with letter stamps.

Top tip: Adding glitter will give a snowflake effect.
