Replace your morning cuppa with ginger tea

Sipping on a cup of hot ginger tea can provide immediate relief from many conditions.

Ginger is loaded with loads of vitamins and minerals including magnesium and amino acids which aid blood flow and decrease the chances of cardiovascular diseases.

Try ginger tea for the following conditions:

Nausea: Drink a cup before travelling and it will help prevent nausea, vomiting and headaches related to motion sickness. It also helps get rid of jet lag after a long trip.

Digestion: Ginger tea will help improve digestion and increases the absorption of food. It also helps to ease bloating.

Stress: Ginger tea can help in lowering stress and tension. Drinking it will keep you refreshed throughout the day.

Menstrual pain: Drinking ginger tea will help relieve the pain and relax muscles. You can add little honey, peppermint, or lemon for a near-perfect soothing effect.

Colds:  If you regularly catch colds and suffer from coughs and runny nose, then drinking a cup of ginger tea should be part of your routine. Ginter tea imparts warmth to the body and leaves you feeling refreshed.

Make your own ginger tea

Serves: 1

You’ll need: 1-2 tsp freshly grated ginger; 2 cups filtered water; 1 tbsp raw honey or pure maple syrup; ½ lemon, juiced

Optional

  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Chamomile flowers
  • Turmeric Fresh
  • Mint leaves

How to:

Peel the ginger root with a peeler or with the back of a spoon.

Grate the ginger with a grater/ zester. If you slice it, slice it thin and use more.

Infuse the ginger; if you add cinnamon, mint, chamomile, or cayenne, add it here.

If you are using a saucepan, bring the water to a boil, add ginger, and turn off heat.

Put the lid on it and let it steep for 10 minutes.

If you are using a teapot, add ginger in the teapot and pour boiling water in it.

Let it steep for about 10 minutes.

If you want a cold tea, let your tea cool down, store it in the fridge and add ice cubes before serving.

Dandelion Tea:

Dandelion tea acts as a natural diuretic, lowers blood pressure and contains insulin and levulin. It helps reduce blood sugar and choline and stimulates the liver. It is rich in vitamins C, K, B2 and A.

You’ll need: 8 dandelion flowers; honey to taste; 350ml boiling water

How to:

Pour boiling water over flowers. Allow to steep for five minutes. Using a tea strainer, strain away the flowers and add the desired amount of honey to the flower infused water.

Dandelion and lime tea

You’ll need: 12 to 15 dandelion flowers; 900ml cold water; 250ml hot water; Juice of three to four limes; 10 – 15ml sweetener.

How to:

Rinse flowers with cold water. Mix the sweetener and warm water. Add lime juice and cold water. Stir well. Add dandelion flowers and allow the mixture to refrigerate for at least three hours. Strain out the flowers and enjoy.
