Things to do inside, when it’s too hot outside

#Festive2020 Summer in the Lowveld can become dangerous when the temperature rises above 35 degrees celsius. To prevent heatstroke, here are some things you can do inside.

Here are five things you can do inside, when the heat is too much outside.

1. Have a scavenger hunt
Set up some clues and make sure you make them difficult enough to keep it interesting, but not too difficult that it causes problems. You can judge how many clues you’d like to set out. Choose a fun and original treasure like a chocolate or give the winner a “no-rules” night if you do not want to share your secret stash.

2. Build forts
Gather up sheets and pillows and make a blanket fort with the kids. Remember to also use fans if you do not have an air conditioner in that room. You could also have a fort building competition to keep everyone busy all day.

3. Watch movies
Spruce up this normal idea by making popcorn and slushies at home, then building a Christmas bed and watch the film with the whole family.

4. Play hide and seek
Channel your inner child and play a game or two of hide and seek. You may be surprised at all of the good hiding places you have been missing out on through the years.

5. Play boardgames
This may be an obvious idea, but it is rarely something that people tend to remember. Switch off the television, dust off the old set of Rummikub and share some serious bonding, and definitely non-competitive, time with your family.
