TS Galaxy’s debut match in the DStv Premiership will be against Tshakhuma FC at Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday at 15:30.
However it is TS Galaxy’s final league game of the season that will be the most anticipated and mouth-watering. The final match day of the season PSL will be on May 29, 2021. All matches kick off at 15:30. TS Galaxy will host Kaizer Chiefs, the best supported team in South Africa, at Mbombela Stadium. Should fans be allowed back at games at this time, there is no doubt that the stadium will be packed close to capacity.
Whenever fans are allowed back at PSL matches, and even before, The Rockets will begin building a strong support base in Mbombela and surrounds, to complement the strong following the club already has in KwaNdebele.
The 2020/21 league season eventually gets off to a start on Saturday, with Bloemfontein Celtic versus Golden Arrows, Baroka FC against Maritzburg United and Kaiser Chiefs up against Mamelodi Sundowns, all at 15:30.
The Rockets competed in the GladAfrica Championship last season. In the off season, team owner, Tim Sukazi, bought the status of Highlands Park, giving TS Galaxy an automatic start in the PSL.
Many of the players previously contracted to the Lions of the North, were signed by The Rockets. TS Galaxy have finalised their squad for the season and announced the players and support staff on Sunday.
Said Sukazi on Tuesday, “I would like to believe that the team is ready. Coming from a very difficult situation of merging two teams from different backgrounds in so far as the level of football is concerned. One coming from GladAfrica Championship and the other from the PSL.
“Obviously, that comes with it own dynamics. I’m pleased to report that our technical team have gone through that and have done fantastically. All those barriers have now been broken. The team is together as one.
“We had opportunities of having some training matches as well. Things are looking good. We are also ready from a playing point of view. This week is the most crucial time. It is a countdown towards our first game ever in the DStv Premiership. That is also playing in the minds, but we are fortunate that we have some of the Highlands Park players. They come with that level of maturity. The first game will make the picture clear”.
