MBOMBELA – Live on the station on weekdays from 12:00 to 15:00, Miss K dishes nothing but hot and spicy edutainment. “There is nothing more fun than working for a brand that gives you all the freedom to do what you love,” she said. Mizz K is no stranger to radio presenting. She once had a stint with one of the SABC’s biggest radio stations, Ligwalagwala FM before returning to Johannesburg where her career flourished.

“I am having the time of my life and I enjoy the platform to interact with listeners. I enjoy the freedom to be independent as my producers and the station allow me to be creative,” she continued. She said what makes her show tick all the boxes is that all the stories and topics she covers on air are thoroughly researched.

“The topics that we share on air are what people out there really want to listen to. And believe me, they impact our listeners in a big way. We get comments and feedback where people tell us that they are learning and benefiting from the show. Sometimes they give us ideas on future topics that no one has touched on,” added Mizz K.

Her breakthrough on Rise FM coincided with the appointment of former Metro FM’s darling presenter and businessman, DJ Sbu who hosted the Breakfast Show, now hosted by another former TV star, Mpumi Mbethe, and Cheese. Even though she confessed that she misses TV life, Mizz K made it clear that for now she is staying put and wants to grow with the show.

When the time is right, I will go that route. “I will still be doing work in front of the camera – my face is too pretty to be hidden,” she said laughingly.

Mizz K is done yet, not by a long shot. What most people don’t know is that she is also a businesswoman of note who runs the Tesive Group, which is the head of all her projects. She specialises in events management, production (TV, radio and music), marketing, public relations and conceptualising.

“Basically, there is nothing we don’t do.” During lockdown, her company was appointed by the National Department of Sports, Arts and Culture to do an online gig which saw more than 80 000 people livestreaming it. Asked if she will ever quit show business, Mizz K said she doesn’t see herself leaving the industry any time soon.
