Man pleads guilty for possession of illicit cigarettes

A suspect appeared in the local Magistrate's Court for the possession of illicit cigarettes worth about R89 000.

A suspect appeared in the local Magistrate’s Court for the possession of illicit cigarettes worth about R89 000.

According to Capt Kaizer Alfred Moela, spokesperson for Lydenburg SAPS, Anteque Rahman (33) was apprehended when he was found in possession of illegal cigarettes at Yebo Furniture in Lange Street.

They followed up on the information and found illicit cigarettes in cartons. Rahman admitted that they belonged to him and he was arrested. He was later released on R2 500 police bail,” he explained.
