Three matches remaining for each team and all to play for in GladAfrica Championship

Mbombela United are 13th and TS Sporting 14th on the log table

Substitute, Felix Badenhorst, scored an equaliser on 90+4 minutes, against Uthongathi at UJ Soweto Campus yesterday afternoon.

The GladAfrica match was Tingwenyama’s second 1-1 draw in three matches since the return to competition.

Uthongathi’s Celimpilo Ngema caught the Mbombela defence napping in the fourth minute of the match to put his side 1-0 up.

The 1-1 draw earned Tingwenyama a single log point and left them in 13th place on the log with 28 points. TS Sporting also have 28 points but have an inferior goal difference and remain in 14th place.

In a bottom-of-the-table clash yesterday Jomo Cosmos beat Royal Eagles 2-1 at Johannesburg Stadium.

The win took Cosmos to 26 points (they remain in 15th place), just two behind TS Sporting and Mbombela United. With three matches to play for each team, either of the Lowveld-based clubs are in danger of a red zone finish.

Royal Eagles, on 19 points and with a goal difference of -20, will finish 16th and last.

Mbombela United’s final match will be against present log leaders, Ajax Cape Town.

Last Wednesday, Mbombela United drew 0-0 with Cape Umoya FC. On Saturday, Tingwenyama scored a 2-0 win over Richards Bay FC.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Mbombela United have been docked one log point for not fielding two u/23 players in a match against Jomo Cosmos on November 10, 2019.

TS Sporting played to a 1-1 draw with Steenberg United at Tsakane Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

TS Sporting have drawn all four matches since the league resumed and have scored three goals and conceded three in 360 minutes of football.

Decide Chauke scored from the edge of the box in the 38th minute on Tuesday. It seemed that, despite missing chances to increase the lead, they were on track for victory.

A penalty in 90 (+4) minutes was awarded to Steenberg and Gregory Roelf slotted the goal to share the spoils.

On Saturday, TS Sporting drew 0-0 with JDR Stars at Rand Stadium. Last Wednesday they played to a 0-0 draw with Swallows at Tsakane Stadium.
