He had the opportunity to perform in front of well-known judges, Unathi Msengana, Somizi Mhlongo, Randal Abrahams and Buhlebendalo.

Thousands of participants audition for the event annually.

Nsizwa Nyundu, CEO of Nsizwa’s Productions, awarded certain local artists the opportunity to enter this year’s auditions in March and Shabangu was the only person who made it.

Unfortunately, he did not qualify for the next round. He only managed to bag two of the four votes needed to qualify for the next round.

According to Shabangu, he got the exposure he needed.

“This was my first attempt at something like this and I managed to make it to the second round. I also had the opportunity to perform in front of the judges, some people did not even get that chance. It filled me with excitement to be there,” he said.
