Fortune’s star shines brighter

His hard work was recently recognized when he bagged a nomination for the Best Afternoon Drive category in the 2020 Radio Awards.

Fortune Ntekati’s passion for radio has seen him rise from being a community radio broadcaster to presenting one of Mpumalanga’s most popular afternoon drive shows.

With nine years’ experience, he looks forward to continue learning and grow his brand to become one of the best radio presenters in the country.

Ntekati, who grew up in Naas, near Komatipoort, enrolled for a media studies course, majoring in radio production after matriculating.

After a few stints with community radio stations in the province and Gauteng, he was given a slot to present a hip-hop culture show on Friday nights and a dance music show on Saturdays.

“My broadcasting career began in 2008 at Eldos FM, a community radio station in Johannesburg, where I co-hosted the breakfast show. A year later, I moved on to Greater Middelburg FM where I produced and presented the Afternoon Drive Show voluntarily for two years before joining  Ligwalagwala FM,” he said.

His hard work was recently recognized when he bagged a nomination for the Best Afternoon Drive category in the 2020 Radio Awards.

“Some of the highlights of my career include appearances on TV shows, but the nomination is the cherry on top. I’ll be going up against the best presenters in the industry like Glen Lewis and others. I can only hope for the best,” said Ntekati.
