Through the grapevine: Only judge when you are perfect

Some of you posting that you will no longer be attending those events that cancelled Sjava. Are we supposed to believe that events like the Cape Town Jazz Festival are your kind of scene?

The Sjava and Lady Zamar clash revealed a lot about people and their mindsets.

Firstly, with event organisers cancelling his performances, there are valid reasons for this. Nobody is judging Sjava or taking Zamar’s side. But did the self-appointed social-media judges even consider that companies associating with people accused of such serious allegations could tarnish their brand? It is not about gender and, at the end of the day, the matter will be heard in court, because she opened a case.

A few weeks ago, a certain local MC made similar accusations about a DJ, and the DJ in question was insulted and tagged in Facebook posts. The question is, can anyone prove if those allegations are true or not?

We doubt that. We should be careful when naming and shaming, especially on social media, and try using it rather than letting it use you. So let us all take a breather, wait for the law to take its course and continue organising and attending GBV marches. Or kanjani, comrades?

Anyway, we saw some of you posting that you will no longer be attending those events that cancelled Sjava. Are we supposed to believe that events like the Cape Town Jazz Festival are your kind of scene? Haaibo bandla! We are not saying anything.

Have a great weekend and remember to only judge when you are perfect.

May the force be with you!
