Somgaga to honour liberation heroes

SA Idols judge and TV personality, Somizi Mhlongo, will MC as four of the province's liberation heroes are honoured during the Red Carpet Experience at the Dam, to be held at the Grootdraai Dam in Standerton on March 28, to mark Human Rights Month in the province.

It is a red-carpet experience with Somizi Mhlongo, popularly referred to as “Somgaga”, on Saturday March 28 at the Grootdraai Dam in Standerton.

This Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency-sponsored showcase honours the heroes of the liberation struggle as the Gert Sibande District Liberation Heritage Route is officially launched.This coincides with Human Rights Month, when heroes from the Gert Sibande District will be honoured. They include Pixley Ka Isaka Seme, Richard Gert Sibande, Saul Mkhize and Mahatma Gandhi.

 

Somgaga will be the master of ceremonies, as revellers will have the opportunity to walk down the red carpet ushered into the celebration by him on the day. The red carpet will be revellers’ most-anticipated episode, before they settle down to some bubbly and other beverages as they enjoy the songs provided by none other than Afro-pop artist Ntando Bangani, whose voice is set to reverberate across the Grootdraai Dam.

Zahara is also part of the line-up.

He will not be alone in the Afro-pop genre, as the equally popular Zahara will bring her guitar and eloquent singing voice and take the audience down memory lane.On the decks to provide soulful ballads will be none other than Metro FM Wilson B Nkosi. Isibaya’s DJ Lolo, Vusi Manana, Dr Malinga, John Cindi, Sizwe Magwaza and many more will complement the line-up on the day. You cannot afford to be left out of this fun-filled day.

The dress code is Polo wear or elegant, to match the always elegantly dressed Somgaga. Tickets are available at Computicket at R100 and R400 for VIPs.
