Rape and kidnapping accused to be sentenced today

He was found guilty on two counts of rape, kidnapping and one of culpable homicide last month.

Lincho Believe Makhubela will appear in the Mpumalanga High Court sitting in Graskop today for sentencing. 

This follows after he was found guilty for rape, kidnapping and culpable homicide on January 28. In two separate incidents during 2018, it is reported that on March 31 he unlawfully and intentionally deprived a minor (nine years old at the time) her freedom by dragging her into the bushes and thereafter raped her.

In his statement, the accused stated that he lured the second victim, Nokubonga Nonyane, while she was with a group of children in Masoyi with the promise to give her R10 on June 8.  Nonyane’s body was found three days later dumped in a ditch in Numbi.

Makhubela was arrested in June 2018 at his hideout in Sabie and has been in custody ever since.
