Springboks versus All Blacks at Mbombela Stadium?

Rassie Erasmus wants the Boks to face the All Blacks at Mbombela, a stadium at which they have played three and won three matches

The venues of the Springboks’ home Rugby Championship matches have not been finalised yet by SA Rugby.

SA Rugby is still in the process of deciding the venues. This includes negatiations with the owners of the preferred venues and provincial unions.

A national Sunday newspaper reported today that SA Rugby director of rugby, Rassie Erasmus, requested SA Rugby to consider Mbombela Stadium as his preferred choice for the match.

Mbombela Stadium manager, Roelf Kotze, said this morning, “The stadium managent, Mpumalanga Rugby Union and SA Rugby have been and still are in discussions concerning the hosting of a Springbok match this year.”

He said no final decision has been made and would not confirm who the Springboks’ opponents would be should the test match be granted to Mbombela Stadium.

Andy Colquhoun, GM Communications: SA Rugby would not confirm or deny if Mbombela Stadium was being considered for the All Black match. “The decisions concerning the venues for the Rugby Championship matches will be made and communicated to the media before the end of the month,” he said this morning.
