Netball star honoured by Bushbuckridge mayor
Khanyisa Chawane by Team Bath, a netball team which competes in the UK Super League, comprising of the top 10 netball teams in England, Scotland and Wales.
The executive mayor, Cllr Sylivia Nxumalo, congratulated Bushbuckridge-born rising netball star, Khanyisa Chawane, for securing her dream to play in the United Kingdom Netball Super League.
She has been signed by Team Bath, a netball team which competes in the UK Super League, comprising of the top 10 netball teams in England, Scotland and Wales.
Khanyisa Chawane is from Thulamahashe in Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, and caught the eyes of European scouts with her sublime performance during the recent Netball World Cup in Liverpool, England.
Nxumalo wishes Chawane success in her new journey and believes that Chawane will fly the Bushbuckridge and South African flags high. She believes that Chawane has all the attributes and abilities to make it in Europe, and is encouraging her to use the move as a stepping stone to greater heights.
The municipality recently honoured Chawane with an award during the Mayoral Excellence Awards ceremony held in Manyeleti Game Reserve in the category of best female sports.
