International RnB musicians will dazzle fans in KaNyamazane

The Temptations, an iconic US-based soul and R&B group, is coming to perform at Chafzar Lifestyle, in a show billed as “The Chafzar International Spring Concert” on September 1.

KANYAMAZANE – This was confirmed during a media briefing held at the StayEasy Emnotweni last Thursday by Chafzar’s CEO, Ndumiso Mona, who was in the company of event partner, Mantshele wa ga Tau, and event PR manager, Thabiso “Tabs” Magodielo.

The renowned group, popularly known to their fans as “The Temps”, a male vocal group over two decades from the 60s to the 70s, will entertain lovers of soul and R&B with their songs, including “Just My Imagination”, “Get Ready”, “My Girl” and “Papa Was A Rolling Stone”.

The group members, via a video shown at the briefing, said, “Yeah, that’s right baby, we’re on our way to Mbombela at
Chafzar. We look forward to serenading fans with our songs. Our message to our followers and lovers of soul and R&B is get your ticket in time to have a good time with The Temps.”

Band member, Bernard Gibson revealed that they are coming as The Temptations Review, because many of the original members have since passed on.

A local band will play backup. Currently, as requested by the group itself, this band is in full rehearsals. Other local
supporting acts will also offer soul and R&B music to compliment the musical theme of the day.

Mona said, “There is no doubt that this is going to be one of the best soul and R&B shows ever hosted in this province.
It is a first in many ways, as this will be the first time that The Temps are coming to Mpumalanga and the first time they will be performing in a township. I reiterate what Gibson is saying; get your ticket in time. We are anticipating a sold-out show.

“Ticket sales are already open at Computicket and at the rate they are being sold, I don’t think there will be gate ticket
sales on the day. Mind you, this is the inaugural show, which will be featured on an annual basis, taking place every first Sunday of September.

“It will always feature an international act and have a bias towards soul and R&B. Negotiations with an international act for the 2020 concert are already underway. Watch this space,” assured Mona.

Alongside The Temps will be a strong line, featuring Metro FM Love Movement DJs, Sands from eSwatini, Princess Ndlovukazi, Soul Kings, Reshen Music from Mbombela, Sihlabane, Sweet Mike from Ligwalagwala FM and Kayzo.

“It pleases us that there is a strong local component in the line-up. That’s our philosophy in everything we do – from the production to the sound, stage, security, marshals and related services. The gig must also benefit our local brothers and sisters,” said Mona.

Powered by Metro FM, Ligwalagwala FM and Mpumalanga News as media partners, the show is set to attract thousands of patrons, both nationally and from neighbouring countries. Other sponsors and partners include Fusion Travel (for accomodation packages), Stella Beer, Hennessy, Moet & Chandon, Nederburg, Sizwe Transport and Tau Ya Phoka.

Gates will open at 12:00 and tickets are as follows: General R250, Golden Circle R300, VIP R1 050, VVIP R2 500. Cooler boxes will be allowed only in the general admission area up to 17:00 at a fee of R100 per standard size.

“We look forward to hosting this concert and building it into one of the signature events that can, among other things,
contribute towards promoting tourism in our province. In this regard, we look forward to working with the provincial
media, Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency and the provincial government, in general,” concluded Mona.
