Producer, Spiro Beats aims for the stars

He started investing his time in music early on and crafted his own beat at the age of 12.

Clinton Senzo Mbatha, popularly known as Spiro Beats, is a record producer and mixing engineer, and reckons he is one of the most talented young producers to come out of the province.

The 22-year-old hip-hop producer from Hazyview said his interest for music dates back to his childhood in a family that loved and played different genres. He was inspired by the likes of 808 Mafia and American rapper T-Pain’s music that ignited a spark in him to start producing and recording other young artists in his neighbourhood.

That assisted him in perfecting his skill. After completing matric at Sibukosetfu Secondary School, he studied sound engineering and business. “There is no doubt that music is my calling and I am definitely aiming for the stars,” Spiro Beats said.

He mentioned how collaborating and producing for local artists has gained him exposure and airplay for his track, “Single Ladies Zone” on various radio stations.

“I have worked with up-and-coming artists in the province, as well as Nigerian-based artist, Ruggedman. Being part of the Back to the City Festival, sharing the stage with the likes of Cassper Nyovest, Riky Rick and Emtee, remains some of the highlights of my career,” he confirmed.

His aim is to reach greater heights and to grow his brand, Preme Audio which he founded independently.
“My wish is to collaborate with other bigger artists in future, but for now, I am focusing on my record label and to produce more music,” he said.
