Botlierskop Private Game Reserve-A Garden Route Favorite

Botlierskop is unlike most private lodges in South Africa, offering one the flexibility to book as many meals and activities as they like.

The Outeniqua Mountains and the gorgeous Indian Ocean form the backdrop of the magnificent Botlierskop Private Game Reserve which nestles midway between Mossel Bay and George on the famous Garden Route.

The 4,200 hectare malaria-free reserve offers a range of luxury accommodation, including gorgeous tented lodges and self-catering villas. The tented suites are built on wooden decks and overlook the river in the distance and striking mountain range. Decorated in a Colonial-style, each suite has a 4-poster beds draped with mosquito netting, large en-suite bathroom and an open-air shower. The eight family-friendly Self-catering bush villas are fully equipped with a kitchen, dining room and lounge with TV and fireplace , Each villa opens out onto an outdoor entertainment area that boasts a braai and splash pool. The views from here are spectacular – overlooking a dam that is home to resident hippo and a number of bird species.

Open for breakfast and lunch, the restaurant offers a fully licensed bar and a la carte menu with various salads, sandwiches and hot meals. The restaurant also prepares a variety of picnic foods for guests who want to enjoy one of picnic sites that overlook the dam.

The leisure area is a popular spot for families with kids, offering a sparkling swimming pool, paddling pool for the smaller kids, water slides and various play areas. The lodge also offers an exciting junior ranger program that teaches kids more about the bushveld, identifying animal footprints and the various fauna and flora of the reserve.

Family-owned and privately-operated, Botlierskop is home to four of the Big 5 (lion, elephant, buffalo and rhino) as well as a wide variety of other wildlife, including antelope, rare black impala, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest and hippo.

Botlierskop offers a range of activities, including daily game drives, guided bush walks, fishing, tennis, canoeing, horseback safaris and a range of spa treatments.
