Celebrating the talent of Mpumalanga

It is a fact, Mpumalanga is an exceptional gold mine of talent.

MBOMBELA -There are famous faces we see on our television screens and hear about, but not many of us are aware that they are from this province.

Here are some male movers and shakers from the province of the rising sun who we think are doing extremely well in different industries.

They include aspiring TV and media personalities, soccer players and entrepreneurs among others. But are they recognised enough by their own?

Percy Tau

The soccer player from eMalahleni began his career with Witbank Spurs before joining Mamelodi Sundowns in 2014 and passed his matric with exemption the following year. He won the Player of the Year award in
Belgium last week. He is currently playing for Union SG, on loan from Premier League Club, Brighton & Hove Albion and Bafana Bafana. If he is recognised internationally, what could stop the province from honouring him?

Thabo Mkhabela

Actor, dancer and poet, Thabo Mkhabela from Bushbuckridge has been on viewers’ television screens for more than five years and is best known for his role on SABC’s drama, Skeem Saam as Big Boy Mabitsela’s son, Leshole. It seems Uzalo’s Mastermind (Ntokozo Dlamini) from KwaZulu-Natal and other actors are the preferred ones for Youth Day events and other activities. Is he not cool and educated enough to be invited
to motivate young people in his province?

Zano

Singer, songwriter, music producer and vocal coach from Embalenhle, Thokozani Nzima previously worked with the late Lebo Mathosa, Shota, Ricky Rick and many others. He also collaborated with world-renowned DJ, Black Coffee on his single, Hello, which became a hit in the music scene and Black Coffee’s award-winning album, Home Brewed. He’s multi-talented and has worked with the best in the industry.

Nicholas “Nick Soul” Nkuna

Remember Simba’s roar on Disney’s UK and Ireland Tour of The Lion King? Well, KaNyamazane’s own Nicholas Nkuna was the voice behind it. He’s won the hearts of many with his TV roles, as well as movies starring alongside big-name stars. With his recent South African Music Awards nomination in the Best R&B/Soul Album category, it is without a doubt that he is one to look out for.

Can this brother also get more gigs in his province? Would it be a crime booking him for local signature events in future instead of recycling the same artists who bore revelers?
