The battle of the beauties in MP has begun

The last auditions were held in the city last Thursday, where 22 finalists battled it out for the top 12 spot. There they underwent rigorous grilling by an eight member panel of judges at the Cycad Lodge.

MBOMBELA – It is the final, the top 12 finalists for the Crowning Miss Mpumalanga 2019 have been chosen after three auditions in December 2018.

The outcome revealed that the pageant ever maintains its representation of all district municipalities across the province. Ehlanzeni has five finalists, Nkangala four and Gert Sibande District has three representatives among the finalists.

From February the top 12 will be making more public appearances, commencing with the State of the Province Address at the provincial legislature. They will also be engaging with the principal sponsor, the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator (MER), who will be introducing them to their outreach programmes across the province. They will also be participating in the Zazi campaign, alongside outgoing reigning queen, Vanessa Hollenbach.

“The basic idea is to expose them to the activities of Miss Mpumalanga, because anyone of them could end up wearing the crown. Thus, whoever clinches the title must hit the ground running. Besides, every finalist is trained for ambassadorial roles in their respective regions because our campaigns are ongoing.”

So each finalist is representing their area. In that manner, MER and Zazi’s objectives are continually being kept active. The reigning queen also gets an opportunity to mentor and hand over her responsibilities to the next queen,” explains Mzimari Productions CEO, Gugu Nyarenda.

“This was one of the toughest auditions. The quality of the girls and their intellect was amazing. It’s not a walk in the park for whoever wears the crown,” remarked judge Martin Mkhaliphi.

The crowning ceremony takes place on April 6.
