Football stars facing each other at Matsulu

Teenage Stars will face Mbombela Reals Stars.

Thirty-two teams from Matsulu and surroundings will battle it out to emerge as the winners in the ongoing Second Annual Sukumani Sidlale Soccer Tournament.
Eight teams will be featured in the quarter finals from 12:00 this weekend.

Teenage Stars will face Mbombela Reals Stars, Matsulu Chelsea Legends will play against Matsulu JTS at the open ground, while the mighty Royal FC will face the equally tough Matsulu Chelsea from 12:00 at the Moyeni Sports Ground.
The Mega Force will end the day against Santos FC from 14:00.

Last week’s results are as follows:
• Mbombela Real Stars vs Juventus FC (6-1)
• Matsulu JTS vs One Family FC (4-0)
• Mega Force FC vs Matsulu B Legends (5-4)
• Teenage All Stars vs Days United (4-3)
• City Royal FC vs Moyeni Legends (4-3)
• Matsulu Chelsea Legends vs Litsemba FC (2-1)
• Santos FC vs Raw United (1-0)
• Matsulu Chelsea vs Mabila All Stars (2-1).

Kenneth Phiri, organiser of the games said the tourney has so far seen 126 goals scored in 24 matches. “Two highest goal scorers Nqobani Makhubu of Mbombela Real Stars and Bonginkosi Nkosi of Santos FC scored four goals each,” he said.

Phiri adds that the tournament is aimed at unearthing local talent and keeping the youth off the streets.
Sponsors of the tournament include RCL Foods, Bongani Lodge, the Department of Culture, Sports and Recreation, and the City of Mbombela.
