It is that time of the year again, when nomination lines for best health-care practitioners are opened for the public for the second annual Health Excellence Awards.
Founder of the awards, Ms Sylvia Masango, a local dietician and founder of Daisy Lee Events in partnership with Dr Prudence Buthelezi, promises a better and bigger event.
“We invite the public to nominate their best health-care professionals, be it in the private sector or public sector. Despite all the occupational stress that health-care professionals face, there are those individuals who go the extra mile in saving lives.

“They have passion and are committed to their job and deliver more than what is expected of them. The awards aim to recognise and reward all hard-working health professionals and motivate those who are demoralised by pressure and stress associated with this field. We encourage members of the public to nominate that special someone who always gives their best in doing their work in our clinics and hospitals,” explained Masango.
She added that the awards are a way of thanking nurses and doctors for their sacrifice in serving the people of the Lowveld. The awards aim to remind them of the importance of the Batho Pele principle regardless of their challenging work environments.
A list of categories to nominate your best professionals includes best specialist, general practitioner, dentist, dietician, youngest specialist, radiographer, optometrist, pharmacist, psychologist, long-standing partnership, nurse, speech therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, ideal clinic, audiologist, social worker, retired, long service and ideal hospital.
The awards’ sponsors include Indalo Hotel, Buhle Bemvelo Holdings ,Daisly Events, the department of health among others.

The person who nominated any health-care professional in any of the categories will be requested to send a motivation why he or she chose that particular person.
