This man will have you in stitches

Nkomazi born comedian, Vusi Mongwe, is nominated for the Savanna Comics' Choice Awards in the audience choice category and is encouraging the community to vote for him to come back with the gong in the province.

Charlie Chaplin once said, “A day without laughter is a day wasted.”

People have long said laughter is the best medicine. Our local “doctor” who has the chuckles, stand-up comedian Vusi Mongwe is serious about having people in stitches as he is nominated for the Savanna Comics’ Choice Awards.

The Nkomazi-born funnyman said he is humbled to be recognised since he has been working hard as a full-time comedian from 2016.

“I have been giggling and I am slowly gaining popularity, especially on social media although I did not know that I was funny until people around me encouraged me to try comedy. But it was not a coincidence because back in high school, I won the Best Entertainer Award and little did I know that it would turn out to be a gagster,” said Mongwe.
When asked if he would be hosting a show anytime soon in Mbombela, he replied, “At the moment I am still working on my craft and need more gig resources to have a show at home, but as soon as I have settled, I am definitely going to host one.”

He recently performed at the Savanna Newcomer Showcase at the Soweto Theatre on May 20 where he shared the stage with 24 other comedians.

He is nominated in the audience choice category and is encouraging the community to vote for him to come back with the gong in the province. You can SMS the code 40643 to 45757 which will only cost you R1,50.
